The author analyses the level of the fruits and small fruits production by farms of different categories: agricultural enterprises and individual farms. The latters play main role in meeting the needs of the population for fruits and small fruits, though the products manufactured by them are considered uncompetitive at the world’s market. The major peculiarities of their activity are the possibility of providing themselves with fruits and small fruits and of obtaining additional income when selling. That is especially important under the low purchasing power of the population. In view of the significant part of perennial industrial orchards among those put out of the production cycle and lack of the investments for their restoration all the categories of farms need effective state support.
