Hazelnut (Corylus maxima Mill.) layers root system frost-resistance under the artificial creation of low temperatures / Yaremko N.O., Kytayev O.I. // Sadivnytstvo (Horticulture). – 2016. – 71. – P. 167-173. – Refs.: 10. – in Ukrainian.
The authors present the results of researching the frost-resistance of the root system of 9 hazelnut cultivars layers. The research was carried out by means of the direct freezing. The roots tissues damage under different temperatures was determined, namely: -10°C, -12°C and -16°C. The tissues appeared to respond differently to the low temperatures effect. Functionally more active tissues (bark, cambium) underwent the strongest damage. The root system of the layers of ‘Karamanivs’ky’, ‘Lozivs’ky Bulavovydny’ and ‘Peremoga-74’ proved the most resistant under -10°C and -12°C. The temperature -16°C was disastrous for the roots of the layers of all investigated cvs.
