Biological ability of apple (Malus domestica Borkh.) and pear (Pirus communis L.) one-year planting trees for the ramification according to cultivars / Sharko L.V. // Sadivnytstvo (Horticulture). – 2015. – 70. – P. 47-52. – Refs.: 9. – in Ukrainian.

The author presents the results of researching the biological ability of apple and pear planting trees to form side shoots in the crown sphere. Under the branching degree the varieties have been selected which were preliminarily referred to those which are capable of natural crown-formation: apple – Ranette Symyrenko and Florina, pear – Pectoral, Dytyacha and Katyusha. 26.1-48.4% of total amount of one-year old apple and 42.4-74.3% of pear saplings had full crown (3 branches and more) and required the State Standard DSTU 4938:2008. It is the potential ability of a pomological cultivar that exercised the dominating effect on the trees natural crown formation. Rootstocks did not influence considerably branching of one-year old trees.
