The author has presented the results of studying 40 sour cherry cultivars and dukes characteristics valuable for economy in the Ukraine’s Southern Steppe for the period of 2004-2011 and analysed the specific weight of two factors (cv peculiarities and environmental conditions) in the formation of the varieties adaptive potential. It is the genetical peculiarities that influenced the formation of the fruits middle mass to the greatest degree while the generative resistance to early spring frosts did to the least extent.
