The authors consider the relationship of annual apple saplings branching in a fruit nursery with the species origin present, the results of the observations of 5 cultivars of Belarusian and one of Russian breeding. The analysis of genetic origin has revealed that the majority of the studied cultivars prone to branching have common parental lineage form. The branching varieties tendency analysis of data on the precocity of has been shown on the basis of the kidneys and early maturity of parental forms.  The varieties related in origin appear to have a similar tendensy to form side shoots. Thus it is possible to select in advance cvs that have a tendency to branch in ing a fruit nursery.
